1. Who are you and what are you doing within the (denim) industry?
Hello, my name is Jason Denham, and I am a jean maker.
2. What are you currently working on?
Building an international, compelling, meaningful jeans brand. 13 years in the making.
3. What is the biggest achievement so far in your career?
There have been many milestones and many targets achieved. However, one thing that stands out is being fortunate enough to continue doing what I love every day. Building a brand and creating meaningful products.
4. What is/are your favorite denim brand(s), and why?
LEVIS and my own brand DENHAM. Why?, because Levis invented jeans and created our industry. Big respect they are the true original. DENHAM brand is unique because we are the only ‘east meets west’ contemporary denim brand. We make very Authentic Made in Japan jeans and very contemporary high performance free move European jeans.
5. What is your favorite denim store, and why?
The last store we opened this month DENHAM CHENGDU in China. It’s a beautiful denim store with all the DENHAM DNA and the truth is in the details. Chengdu is also a very cool city.

6. What do you think we can expect in the (near) future of denim developments as it comes to sustainability?
Every day our industry gets more sustainable because everything around it is making this happen. First of all our consumer is supporting this goal and our suppliers from raw materials to finished transported products are on a mission to make jeans the most sustainable products in the world.
7. What is the most valuable lesson your have learned during your work?
“Work hard & be nice to people” (by Anthony Burrill) it’s a print that has hung inside our studio since the 1st day we started the company. Keep smiling , don’t take yourself too seriously. It’s only a pair of jeans, enjoy every day. If not, go and do something else, right?
8. If you could be someone else for one day, who would you be, and why?
Adriano Goldschmied, (the godfather of denim). Why? Who wouldn’t want to be the godfather for a day??!!, I would love to experience his knowledge, passion, energy, and genius. Adriano is my inspiration. A true legend.

9. Can you describe your ultimate pair of jeans?
It’s a difficult question. When I design I create what my consumer wants. In Asia, my consumer wants Authentic, Japanese, selvedge, artisan virgin or washed 5 pocket, full spec jeans and I love to create this. In Europe, my consumer wants high performance free move denim beautifully made with signature details.
Me personally……I want the best of both worlds!

10. Do you have a life slogan, or one that inspires you?
I love “Catch a dream and nurture it” (by laser). This has been my denim life story.
“The truth is in the details” is the signature of my brand. It’s in everything that we do. Also,….“Work hard & be nice to people” (by Anthony Burrill) We aim high every day.
